Our Urgent Tails

Stories from the Heart
Clyde - "One Hot Summer's Day..."
It must have been late July, I can just imagine the heat. There lay a
stunning black lab beauty. She was pregnant and ready to deliver her
nine puppies. Empty bowls once holding water and food surrounding her.
All alone in a hot muggy basement. She was left alone…When the
Shelter was notified by a neighbor it was too late. All eight puppies
were dead including the mother. They starved to death. All but one
tiny baby laying there his name  became “Clyde”. He was so weak, skin
and bones to say the least and hardly breathing.
The shelter took great care of Clyde and soon was adopted only to be brought back to the shelter
because he looked deformed. Poor Clyde once again was in danger of death this time euthanasia. The
shelter workers were devastated. They truly thought Clyde had his forever home… The shelter worker
called Almost Home. When I heard his story my stomach turned. My heart bled for poor Clyde. I rushed
to the Shelter for fear the Warden would order him to be euthanized as he was labeled “unadoptable”.
There he sat in the isolation room on a tiny blanket. He was the most beautiful animal I had ever laid
eyes on. I opened his crate and he sniffed my mouth and nose. He licked my cheek and I cried. When he
stood up he was very thin his poor legs all four appeared to be deformed. He could walk but not well. His
crate was spotless. He was holding it to go potty. I took him out and he did his business and then in slow
motion walked over to me and cuddled by my feet. I sat on the ground and he crawled in my lap and looked
straight in my eyes. His eyes said “I love you” “Please give me a chance to show you I love life and want
to live”. “I want to breath the fresh air, I want to sleep in a comfortable bed, I want love and security”.
But most of all I want a family I can love and be loyal to.

Kristi an Almost Home Volunteer met me to take Clyde home to foster him. She  took one look at him and
said “I love him” She took him home bathed and fed him. She showered him with love and affection. “Clyde
is the perfect little
Boy” Kristi told us.” “ How anyone could turn their back on him is unthinkable!”
Clyde is now warm and cozy with Kristi. He has been to an orthopedic Dr.
He will most likely be evaluated at MSU to see what kind of treatment or surgery will make him feel and
be the best he can be.

Almost Home wants to do everything we can for our sweet little Clyde but we need your help. If you
could find it in your heart to help Clyde he would be so grateful. Please donate to his medical through pay
pal or send check payable to: Almost Home, 250602 , West Bloomfield, Michigan 48325 . In the memo
please write “Clyde”. Thank you with all our heart and dog bless.
