Hope - “And Then There’s Hope”
Hope was found straying the streets in the freezing cold weather just
a few weeks ago. Emaciated, weak and cold she could barely hold
herself up.
It was obvious she had just given birth. She ended up at an over
crowded animal shelter where she waited to be vet checked. After a
few days the shelter worker noticed Hope was not eating and she
looked thinner. She was worried about her so she called Almost Home.
I rushed out there to get her. There she sat in her cage with her
big brown eyes yearning to tell her story. She didn’t have to for I
could already see it in her eyes.
She was emaciated, frightened and she had the worst case of
mastitis I have ever seen in rescue. I felt her skin she was boiling
hot. I carried her to my car and as I looked at her sweet face I
named her “HOPE”. I rushed her to the  Gasow Veterinary Hospital
. While I was driving she climbed over to me and rested her weary

head in my hand. I could feel the heat of her fever as if it were fire. I couldn’t bear to think what she
had been through.

The Vet was appalled at her condition and thanked me for saving her. She said Hope wasn’t even a year
old. Imagine a baby in the dead of winter having babies in the freezing snow how sad.
And to top it off Hope is a perfect Angel. The temperament of perfection.

Doctor said she should make a complete recovery. Fortunately,
she is young so she was able to fight the cold. I took Hope home made her a huge meal  gave her
medicine, lit the fire place and held her in my arms almost the whole night. I looked at those big brown
beautiful eyes and I let her read my eyes as I did hers. I told her she will never ever have to suffer
again her nightmare was finally over.
