Our Urgent Tails

Stories from the Heart
heat and then the winter again. Jody she calls herself a little girl who lived down the road one freezing
cold day risked her life and cut him loose. She called us with her voice trembling. “I did it!” “I did It!”
“You did what?” “ I cut him loose.” Thomas ended up at a local shelter. They removed his embedded collar
but failed to treat his condition. He wasn’t adopted soon enough so he was scheduled for death. A
volunteer from the shelter felt he deserved a second chance so she drove him to another shelter and once
again he did not get adopted. The volunteer called Almost Home and asked if we would help him and we said
yes. Playful and happy Thomas went to a foster home. His foster noticed Thomas was feeling under the
weather. She took him to the vet and went home with antibiotics. The next day he would not eat or drink.
He would just lay on the floor. He could barely move. His foster mommy called very concerned and we
asked her to bring him to us. We took him to the hospital. His body had become septic and his fever was
out of control. Vomiting and diarrhea consumed him. He lost nearly 10 pounds in less than one week. After
running a number of tests Dr.Thompson determined which way we should go with treatment. It is now a
whole week and Thomas is still very weak. We are almost completely out of funds but we will not give up
on Thomas he has suffered enough. We are all hoping and praying that Thomas once and for all can have
the wonderful life he truly deserves. Please find it in your hearts to help Thomas.

Please help us help Thomas with his recovery so he can find the life he truly deserves a responsible, loving
forever home. Please send donations to : Almost Home/Attn. Thomas's Fund at  PO Box 250602 , West

Thomas - "When Thomas was born..."
A sweet little yellow lab puppy was born . A backyard breeder it was.
Thomas was sold for $20.00. Tied to a metal gate with a choker chain
around his neck he lived a year and a half like that.
The choker collar became embedded and now Thomas had more suffering
to endure. It was bad enough he had minimal water and food and had to
withstand the cold blistering winters and then the scolding summer
